On Tuesday, Sept 19, the sixth-grade team hosted their annual "Bring your Parent to Enrichment" afternoon. This event started in the Discovery Studio for the "Who's In Charge and Being Digitally Savvy" presentation by Dawn Smith, Kevin Rokuskie, and Kelly Wiebe. Parents were then invited to participate in their child’s advisory for the remainder of the afternoon.
On Wednesday, Sept 13, students participated in the annual club fair during Enrichment. This was an opportunity to find out more about the clubs offered at the middle school. During the fair, students rotated through three presentations, each 10 minutes in length. Sign up for first trimester clubs takes place after the club fair. There are over 40 clubs in the middle school. Some of the wonderful offerings are: Get Derby: 5k training, Arduino Club, Art to Share, Breakfast Club, CA TedEd Club, Step Club, Kindness Rocks, Robotics, Grass Volleyball, Chess Club and many more.
Pictured above are students in the after-school MS robotics program ... but there is a club for that too!
Congratulations to US history teacher and varsity cross country and track/field coach Conrad Hall for his selection to the Durham Academy Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Hall is a 1989 graduate of DA, who left the school holding four school records in cross country/track and five individual NCISAA state championships in cross country/track.
Coach Hall is pictured here at the end of the PTAA Derby 5K community race with his daughter Allison.
