The Annual 8th Grade Celebration took place June 9 in the theater.
Before the presentation of certificates, students addressed and entertained the full audience with reminiscences, poems and musical performances.
The grade presented the MS with its class gift: a large digital clock that will hang above the 8th-grade display case.
After the ceremony, friends and family joined the students in the cafeteria for light refreshments and then on the quad for pictures.
The Upper School brought the year to a close with the annual Discovery Term, a two-week opportunity to investigate areas outside of the regular curriculum. By immersing themselves in learning for its own sake, students have the opportunity to test new ideas while breaking out of familiar ways of thinking. Students who commit to the goals of the course and actively participate acquire new and enduring understandings from the experiences and risks they undertake.
Students took part in classes as varied as Tech in Medicine, Social Justice, Exploring Programming, Physics Team, Kenyan Running, War Strategy and Fantasy Writing.
In Discovery Term, students learned but also had a little fun, as demonstrated by this Sierpinski Tetrahedron, made up of 64 individual tetrahedrons by the Math-a-Licious class.
